Flower and Bird Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Azalea Orchid

On silk, in the vertical scroll format, the azalea orchid theme finds its natural home in this flower and bird scroll painting. The composition follows the classical sense of weight and counterweight. Among pieces of oriental wall hanging, this is the quiet kind: balanced, calm, and easy to live with.

Here the orchid takes its place in the composition's larger rhythm. The azalea adds a quiet accent, handled in the old manner of the brush. Rocks emerge from the mist like the backs of great animals. Time slows a little in front of a painting like this. The picture balances fullness and emptiness in the classical manner. It is the kind of picture that grows quieter the longer you look.

It keeps good company with the finest classical chinese artwork, the kind that rewards daily looking. Give it wall space and it will repay the attention many times over. It makes a gracious gift for weddings and new homes.
