Flower and Bird Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Blue Flowers Quails

The blue flowers quails theme gives this flower and bird scroll painting its center, rendered in the old manner. Line quality is the quiet hero here, steady and expressive at once. As a piece of classical chinese brush painting, it reads clearly from across the room and keeps giving on closer inspection.

The quails adds a quiet accent, handled in the old manner of the brush. Layers of ink wash model the landscape without a single hard edge. Collectors will linger on the peony, rendered here with unforced detail. The blue flowers settles naturally into the scene, balanced against the larger forms. The picture keeps its own counsel, revealing itself a little at a time.

As a piece of chinese silk scroll painting, it carries the calm authority of the classical tradition. The mood it sets is one of composure, hard to find and easy to keep. It rewards a wall with a little empty space around it.
