Chinese Beauty Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Palace Ladies Courtyard

The palace ladies courtyard theme is rendered here in a beauty scroll painting that favors grace over display. Gradations of ink do the modeling, with color reserved for emphasis. For shoppers browsing timeless asian wall art, this one hits the familiar notes without a hint of fuss.

Drawn with economical strokes, the goat keeps the scene grounded and honest. The palace ladies settles naturally into the scene, balanced against the larger forms. Against the silk ground, the palace reads clearly at any distance. The courtyard adds a quiet accent, handled in the old manner of the brush. The overall tone is one of ease, the hardest thing to paint and the easiest to enjoy.

Hung in a study or living room, this oriental wall hanging changes the room's temperature without raising its voice. Over time it becomes less a decoration and more a presence in the room. It brings a sense of order to a busy wall.
